The Chase Task

Our team, Extreme Close Up Productions, consisted of Me, Toby Hall, Harry Ellerd-Cheers and Glyn Smith. We soon decided on the following roles for each member of our team:

Me - Actor/Editor

Glyn - Actor/Editor

Harry - Director

Toby - Camera operator

I knew that i wanted to take the role of editor which meant I also had to be an actor in the film.

Our brief was to create a 1 minute long chase scene with 2 actors. However, we were only aloud 1 hour to plan and another to shoot the film itself. This of course made the task considerably harder as our plan had to be brief in order for us to finish the first stage within the allotted time.

We ran into a few problems whilst filming relating to the fact that the rest of our class was also filming around the same locations. This is something we mistakingly had not anticipated in the planning stage.

Having to share the filming space with other groups meant that we were pushed for time and unable to finish with the shots we wanted. To fix this we moved the shot around slightly in the editing stage and added in some sound effects meaning that the film ended on a cliff hanger.

Post processing itself was not without its own share of problems. The camera we used to film required an Intel Processor to use so was therefor incompatible with the Power Mac G5 we were intending to edit on. We found a way around this problem by importing the files onto a different computer and converting the to a format compatible with the Power Mac G5 and Final Cut.

After uploading to YouTube it became apparent that there were black flashes present between each cut. However, it was to late to attempt to fix the problem as we were presenting to the class that afternoon.
