Our idea for this task is a powerful scene set on a train where a long lost father and son are coincidently reunited.
The challenge with the film is to ensure that it does not come across as cheesy or cheap.
Our idea is to show the son as a stereotypical, successful, bussiness man. In doing this we show that he is better than a normal person. We will also present him as a kind and generous character so that the audience can still connect with and feel sorry for him.
The father is going to be presented as a lower class than the son. He will wear clothes that present him as poor and will appear dirty.
The audience will recognize the father as poor because he will be unable to afford a cheap cup of tea. This is where the son will come in giving the father the money he needs. Therefore the audience will see the son as a good character who they will like.
Later on in the train journey the son receives a phone call from a Private Investigator telling him that he is still looking for his missing father. During this convocation the son speaks the name of his father. At this point the father looks up at the son. The son then goes on to say that his father left his '18 years ago'. The father says this line simultaneously to the son and the audience make the connection that he is the mans father.
The shot then fades to a high angle shot of the train moving of into the distance representing how the father and son's relationship has began to move in a new direction.
